After my master's degree in integrated design and the subsequent move to my hometown - a small village between Bremen and Hamburg - I wanted to take advantage of the rural conditions and my strengths.
Even as a child, I had a fascination with knives in all forms. This special tool that seems so simple and yet is so versatile. The first knife I owned was a Swiss Army knife that was in my school bag when I started school. A little later I made my first attempts at sharpening with a Scandinavian outdoor knife on my grandfather's whetstone.
Immediately after completing my studies, I started building a belt grinder - the basic tool in knife making. When this was completed, I made my first attempts at making knives, preferably from old files that I sharpened into shape. The first results were promising and I was excited to be able to produce these wonderful tools myself. In order to be able to make my knives according to my needs not just from old files, but from tool steel, I bought a hardening oven. Since then, I have been making knives from flat steel according to my ideas and hardening them myself.
I can bring a lot of my interests and strengths to bear when making knives. An eye for detail and aesthetics that I acquired during my design studies. Craftsmanship that was passed on to me from my father. The interplay of wood and metal, two very contrasting materials that harmonize so wonderfully with each other. And last but not least, the joy of processing food and preparing good food.
With my products I want to create something of sustainable value that becomes long-lasting companions and is characterized by outstanding quality and a timeless aesthetic.
